The marathon takes place on the 6th of April and is in aid of St Catherine’s School! Pauline started running 3 years ago, at the age of 58, with Couch to 5K. She now runs about 25 miles each week! She enjoys races – on and off-road, track and hills. But this will be her first marathon.

This free, unique, bilingual performance aims to showcase the resilience of women who have migrated from Ukraine to BCP & Dorset, sharing their experiences through spoken word, song, and dance. Under the artistic leadership of Anastasia Pikalova, the performance promises a festival-feel event, inviting the local community to explore and understand the stories of women living with the legacy of war and conflict.

We are delighted to share the news that we have been awarded a grant from Talbot Village Trust to work with Wimborne First School and Rebecca Bourdon - a horticulture expert, to help transform the school’s outdoor space to enable young people to understand and connect with nature to promote their well-being and feel empowered to take positive action for the environment.

We offer support to develop a whole school approach and Climate Action Plan.

By working together, we want to support staff in schools to feel part of a wider community who know where to go locally and nationally for expertise and help, and who feel empowered to take positive actions for the environment. It is an expectation that all schools will have a designated Sustainability Lead & a Climate Action Plan in place by the end of 2025!

This is an exciting new venture with the Poole Community Exchange, centred in the Dickinson Hall at Parkstone United Reformed Church.

This project began as a children’s book, written and illustrated by local artist and author Marylyn Cropley.

This is an integrated project featuring people in recovery working alongside those with English as a second language and refugees. It's a community led play that highlights the refugee crisis but also offers a message of hope and a reminder that Christmas is a time to welcome everyone into the stable.

Pauline has worked closely with DEED for several years, both when she was Head of Citizenship and PSHE at Christ the King College on the IOW, and now as a DEED Trustee. We Were Here explores memories of individuals, celebrating the stories as told by local people, so that this little-known, important part of Dorset’s history will not be forgotten. This exhibition of photos, stories and art celebrates the lives and families of the estimated 8,000 African American GIs stationed in Dorset in 1944 before they left for the war in France.

Dancing from the Archives brings a collection of West African traditional dances and Jamaican folk dances, that represent social, ritual, and religious rites.

Students will be wearing their traditional dress and bright clothing at the Black Campus Carnival!

They start on the ground floor of the Student Centre at 12 pm and will parade around campus showing the bright and colourful Black community that exists at Bournemouth University.

This emotive photography exhibition by Robert Golden offers an intimate insight into the lives and experiences of the Windrush generation, 25 years after their arrival in the UK. Alongside poetry by Shaniqua Benjamin, this new exhibition explores ideas of belonging, cultural difference, and the ways people respond to social change.

Celeste is a drama group created by Vita Nova to help improve your English speaking and reading skills. It’s also a lovely place to make new friends.

Celeste will be working on a play called Refugee Nativity, which looks at the Christmas story from the perspective of the current refugee crisis. If you would like to take part you are very welcome. Don't worry if you have never done drama before.
